As a parent, you may not think of a fever in your child as a good thing. Although fever itself is not a disease, but a symptom of an illness.

Children are more susceptible to fever than adults because their immune systems are not yet well developed.

1. Drink plenty of fluids

Offer children to drink liquids such as mineral water to fruit juice without excess sugar to keep their body hydrated.

If your child is under 1 year of age: Continue to offer breast milk and formula. They should not be given water.

2. Eat soup or porridge

Usually, when a child has a fever, he refuses to eat because his appetite is down.

Instead, parents can cook or buy soup until the porridge is softer and more comfortable to eat.

3. Wear light clothing

A quick way to reduce heat in children without medication can be by wearing thick clothes or clothes that will only make them feel hot.

Excess clothing will trap body heat and cause the temperature to rise.

4. Set room temperature

If you have air conditioning, it doesn't hurt to keep it on at 23-25 ​​degrees Celsius.

This temperature will not be too cold for the child nor will it overheat the room.

5. Warm compresses

The hot compress will cause the pores on the body to enlarge, dilate the peripheral blood vessels, increase heat dissipation, thereby reducing fever. When a child has a fever, applying cold will only make the child more uncomfortable.

6. Take a shower with warm water

Bathe your child in warm water. Don't let your child shiver from cold water. It can raise body temperature. Never leave your child unattended in the bathroom.

7. Rub the shallots

Onions not only help lower body temperature but also relieve body aches during fever.

Simply cut a whole onion into thin slices and rub 2 to 3 pieces on your child's feet for a few minutes. This process can be repeated twice a day to reduce fever.
